So I thought I’d kick start this blog with a small showcase of a designer who I’ve been following recently. Sougwen Chung, or simply Sougwen, is a Brooklyn-based Illustrator/Generative Media artist who is currently working out of Amsterdam. I chanced upon her one time after finding some of her music recommendations on the community Percussion Lab. I have to say I was duly impressed by her individual style and surrealist aesthetic that I must say makes me think of James Jean. From the brief twitter conversations I have had with her she says that fair amount of her generative work is done in programming languages like Processing, while her main technique is done with hand drawn-Photoshop manipulations.
